This is one of my last bird photographs for 2010. I like the shot because the light shows off the multi-coloured nature of this Bufflehead’s head and neck. It is Canada’s smallest diving duck and a close relative of the popular Goldeneye. These little butterballs make their appearance in numbers in Burlington every winter—definitely something that makes the cold weather worthwhile.
